 According to Interview given by Rinku Singh to KKR ,
“When he was playing local cricket in Aligarh, he was selected to participate in a school-level World Cup organized by DPS School. Due to his excellent performance in the tournament, he was awarded the title of Player of the Tournament, and he received a bicycle as a prize. In that tournament, his jersey number was 35, and he began to feel that this number was lucky for him. Since then, he has been wearing a jersey with the same number. Even in the KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) team, his jersey number is 35.”

Rinku Singh was born into an extremely poor family in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. His early life was filled with struggles. His father, Khanchand Singh, worked as an LPG gas delivery agent, going from house to house to deliver LPG gas cylinders.
During a challenging period, there came a time when Rinku Singh felt that continuing to play cricket might not be feasible. The family was facing financial difficulties, and covering expenses for cricket seemed impossible for his father. In such circumstances, one of Rinku’s brothers enrolled in a coaching institute, and another brother started driving an auto-rickshaw to support the family.
Faced with the reality of financial constraints, Rinku Singh decided to contribute to his family’s well-being. With limited formal education, he found work doing manual labor, such as sweeping floors. While engaged in this work, he realized the harsh truth that this might be the only way he could support his family.
Motivated by the desire to make a difference, Rinku Singh decided to pursue a job and eventually found himself doing menial tasks like sweeping.
This experience served as a stark reminder of the challenges he faced and fueled his determination to never look back. In the face of adversity, he made a courageous decision to return to his passion for cricket, vowing never to turn away from his dreams again.
